Lil Red Barn Piston Kit for Hilti DSH700 DSH700X Gaskets Bearings Seals
Key features
- FITS HILTI DSH 700 AND DSH 700-X CUT OFF SAWS. A complete top-end set for the 70cc two-stroke engine in these saws: piston with rings, the gaskets disturbed during teardown, and the crankshaft bearings and seals. For a saw that has lost compression, will not hold an idle, or has been run lean on a dusty site.
- PISTON, RINGS, GASKETS, BEARINGS AND SEALS IN ONE SET. Buying these separately means three or four orders and a saw sitting in pieces between deliveries. Everything the engine gives up during a top-end rebuild is in the box, which is the difference between a day of downtime and a week of it.
- CUT-OFF SAWS DIE OF DUST, NOT HOURS. Concrete and masonry dust that gets past a neglected air filter behaves like grinding paste in the bore. If the filter has been run dirty or the pre-cleaner is packed, expect scoring on the exhaust side of the piston. Check the cylinder through the exhaust port before ordering a piston alone.
- REPLACE THE SEALS WHILE THE ENGINE IS OPEN. Worn crankshaft seals let unmetered air into the crankcase, the mixture leans out, and the new piston you just fitted picks up in the bore within weeks. The seals are the cheapest part of this kit and the most common reason a rebuild does not last.
- FIT A NEW AIR FILTER AT THE SAME TIME. A top-end rebuild on a saw that still has a compromised filter is a temporary repair. Service the pre-cleaner, fit a fresh filter, check the intake boot for cracks, and pressure test the crankcase before the saw goes back to work.
Top-end rebuild kit for Hilti DSH 700 and DSH 700-X cut off saws. Includes the piston with rings, gaskets, crankshaft bearings and oil seals. These saws are worked in concrete and masonry dust, and dust that passes a neglected air filter is the usual cause of engine failure rather than accumulated running hours. Scoring on the exhaust side of the piston is the typical result. Before ordering a piston, inspect the cylinder through the exhaust port with the muffler removed - light transfer marks will hone out, but deep scoring or aluminum in the bore plating means the cylinder also needs replacing. Crankshaft seals should be replaced whenever the engine is open. A hardened seal lets unmetered air into the crankcase, which leans the mixture and will pick up a new piston within weeks of the rebuild. Fit a fresh air filter, service the pre-cleaner and check the intake boot for cracks at the same time. Pressure and vacuum testing the crankcase before reassembly confirms the seals are sealing.
